10 ways to make money online in Nigeria

Sisi Yemmie of Youtube or is it blogville

I am using Sisi Yemmie as my first picture. Of all the bloggers I have known online she is someone who has inspired and encouraged me to make money via blogging. She was one of the first people to prove it was possible too. I simply blogged because I loved writing.

She on the other hand had been to the abroad where she saw it done and was convinced it could be done in Nigeria. So I followed her even in the days that she gave credit every monday to those who left comments on her Monday post. That was almost a decade ago.

So what am I saying?

If Sisi Yemmie and the rest of the blogville fam like Miss Brown, Rayo, Wellsbaba, Jennifer could make money as early as a decade ago from blogging, you can too.

You can make money in Nigeria via the internet. Before the advent of the #CoronaVirus the mainstream media did not care much about making money online or the possibility of remote working.

1. Google Adsense

If you are blogging everyday, you are racking up money on your blogville account. If you have not subscribed to adsense, you are leaving money on the table. From your Youtube and your blogville account, you can make good money if you give out entertaining or educating content that people want to see. I am on Adsense and daily I see the impact of the traffic that comes to my site, it translates to money. This is residual cash earned while doing what you love.

2. Affiliate Marketing

A simple way many people make money is by selling useful products that others need. For example one of the ways that I receive money for my ebooks on Amazon is via Payoneer.

When I recommend Payoneer to someone else, they make money and I make money and they also find a reliable way of transferring their money from the abroad to Nigeria. I have a free ebook on my page that shows how to receive money in Nigeria.

You can sign up for payoneer with this link: http://bit.ly/2XSa1By

3. Consulting

One of the best ways of consulting is by doing it through entertainment. One of my faves on the internet is Naija Single Girl. She is very funny and seems to be living her best life now. I do hope she lives her best life now even when she is married. That is if she agrees to settle down.

She consults for airlines in a different way that the regular consultants. She is a travel blogger and I enjoy following her journey to different countries and meeting different people. I learned about AirBnB from her. It is staying in a regular house during your travels instead of staying in a hotel. She is witty, funny and very fun. The airline gets droves of people who want to travel with them after seeing NSG's travels.

NSG is more active on Instagram.

It is work but also so much fun. Her creativity is so clear and this is something in admire.

4. Online Courses

Some of the best online courses are on Udemy.

You can learn anything on Udemy. You can also teach anything on Udemy. After watching a few courses, you get to see what the rave is all about.

Let's bring it home to Nigeria. There is this interesting online marketer who is an accountant. She writes ebooks. If I was interested in accounting, I would do Chioma's courses. She is very interesting and just being on her facebook page teaches you a lot about online marketing being authentic and yet not putting all your business out there.

She is a creative marketer.

5. Podcasting

One of my best podcasters is Jennifer Abayowa.

She is a great and useful resource for women who want to live their best life now. She has daily podcasts that encourage women to live big and live purposeful, even while being a success on the home front.

Your kids don't have to suffer neglect because you want to be successful.

6. eBook sales

I admire the way people sell ebooks so easily on Amazon. I have a book on how you can get published on Amazon. You can send me a mail at tessadoghor@gmail.com to make a purchase. Or you can email me directly on Whatsapp to make a purchase.

You can also visit my sales page on my blog and buy via flutterwave.

Did you see this? There are so many ways to collect money from yor clients without hassles on both sides. There is Flutterwave and Payoneer and World Remit.

Why do you insist on hoarding your talent when you can be showcasing it to the world. Let me share a quote with you.

You were born to stand outstop trying to fit in. - Roy T Bennet

7. Lead Sales

I don't encourage lead sales.

Instead of doing lead sales, here is what you can do. You can convince the organization to buy space on your monthly newsletters and share the opportunity that the organization are trying to communicate to your audience.

Or you can hold a free event sponsored by the organization with an obvious benefit like opportunity to get loans and support for their organization. Then when you have gathered 100 or 200 people, the organization can get the chance to speak to them about the value and benefits attached to the offer they present.

You get to keep your credibility when you always communicate what is valuable to your audience and community.

8. Freelance Writing

You can make money via freelance writing.

If you have writing as a skill, or you can build websites or you can do voiceovers, you can market your talent. Follow my freelance blog on Freelancer Blog to learn more about how to freelance successfully.

Freelance writing or any other kind of freelance work is a goldmine when it is done right.

9. Sponsored Posts

When you have a fluorishing blog, many companies will want to advertise to your audience.

A fluorishing blog is a blog or an online community that have a lot of people engaged, whose lives are better for being connected to your blog. It is a place where things are getting done.

Sponsored posts are one of the ways to make good money. The key is to ensure that your blog is solving a problem that people need solved.

10. Webinars

Webinars are online meeting.

Some webinars are one hour. Some are four hours. I find that my attention span for webinars is just an hour, if it is really good.

Webinars should be used with people that you have already established long term relationship with and also know the value that will be exchanged for your time and money.

They are best used for trainings.

11. Youtube

YouTube is bae.

Youtube pays you for web content that adds value to its audience.

Youtube measures this value by views, likes and comments. Subscriptions are also essential in building your Youtube engagement.

I just started my Youtube channel. Kindly visit: https://bit.ly/3cAZPUZ

Please don't laugh when you visit. My best form of information distribution happens through words. Although I am not adept at video distribution yet, this is a challenge I am willing to undertake.

12. Build an online community

My favourite online community is Money Africa. It is a site that I have learned a lot from.

There are so many opportunities on Money Africa. You should be following them on Facebook to develop yourself financially.

One of the hard facts about Africa is that we don't know enough about money. We must systematically develop ourself and our continent by teaching ourselves about money. There is something about a financially empowered woman, she has so many options.

It is a group of men and women, so if you are a man, go join and sell your stuff on Money Africa too.

Becoming a part of them will benefit your financial planning life. I learned about Chioma with the accounting courses from Money Africa. They are a fun and supportive community where you can learn about money and get access and clarity about your business opportunities even if you are not using strictly the internet.
