Sisi Yemmie of Youtube or is it blogville

I am using Sisi Yemmie as my first picture. Of all the bloggers I have known online she is someone who has inspired and encouraged me to make money via blogging. She was one of the first people to prove it was possible too. I simply blogged because I loved writing.

She on the other hand had been to the abroad where she saw it done and was convinced it could be done in Nigeria. So I followed her even in the days that she gave credit every monday to those who left comments on her Monday post. That was almost a decade ago.

They are an amazing couple

Harry and Meghan are two of my most favourite people in the world.

They are indeed royalty.

How do they relate to social selling?

I will begin with a definition:

Social selling is the process of developing relationships as part of the sales process. Today this often takes place via social networks such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest, but can take place either online or offline

Getting leads from your social media platforms

Social Media is a place where you socialize still, it has ceased to be a place of fun. It is no longer fun but it has evolved into a land of opportunity. It is a place where you can generate clients.

These clients are known as leads in the world of social media.

About ten years ago, social media was about fun and games.
Facebook was about meeting up with old friends from secondary school, University and even training schools.

Scamming in the digital industry

Scamming is the bad news that goes hand in hand with the freedom that is freelancing.

Trust is a big issue in freelancing.

You can talk business, close the deal, write content calendars and content plans and get scammed by a business owner who is supposed to be doing business with you. The said business owner would act as if he has not just stolen intellectul property.

How do you avoid been scammed as a digital creator?

i. Collect a down payment:

Collect a 70% down payment before doing any work. The client may be afraid of getting scammed. You also are doubly afraid of getting scammed. One can't be wasting work resources doing free jobs.

ii. Work by referral or recommendation:

Let friends, family and clients refer new people to you. It is safer than swimming in shark infested waters on your own with no guarantee that the sharks will pay what they owe.

iii. Take the leap of faith:

Choose to trust. Building a clientele takes time and wisdom. Meeting that ideal client will be worth it even if you need to kiss nine frogs according to the proverb.

If you got scammed financially in Nigeria, see article to find out how to retrieve your money via the banks and CBN nigeria.

It has some disadvantages such as isolation. Can you handle the isolation? If it gets too much, you can visit a co-working space for three days in your week. Read my co-working post from way back.
